Cabin Cymru - letting information and site rules

*WHEN CAN I STAY AND IS THERE A MINIMUM STAY?

The holiday villlage is open all year except the month of November.  The Cabin can be hired for as many days as you wish* for either a weekend/ weekday break or a week or two's holiday (*subject to a minimum booking of 2 nights at any time and 7 nights during summer season -see Prices page for further details) and is priced for the cabin - regardless of the number of occupants - in this case we recommend up to 4. However, if you are parents with 3 or 4 kids then we do have an airbed that you can use if you wish - ask us for more details.

The price varies according to season - please see the Prices page for further details. Please vacate the cabin by Midday on the day of departure. For arrival times please speak to us personally - we will need to make key collection arrangements with you - particularly if you are arriving out of site-office hours.

*WHAT'S IN THE CABIN?

The cabin has heaters in every room (electric included in the price - no meters!) and comprises of:

Veranda: small decked area perfect for an outdoor lunch or a glass of wine in the evening.

Lounge/ Dining Area: 2 comfy sofas to snuggle up on, TV, DVD, Sky box, dining table for up to 4 people, window seat for reading or watching the birds. Selection of books and videos.

Kitchen: Compact but, as we are often told, packed with every bit of equipment you might need including the much-praised hand blender! Full size cooker & microwave.

Master Bedroom: Warm, cosy double bedroom with ample lighting for those of you who like nothing better than sitting in bed with a good book. Wardrobe space and small vanity area with hairdryer and make-up mirror.

Second Bedroom: Has bunkbeds which are great if you are a big kid too! Plus wardrobe and vanity area.

Toilet & Shower room: needs no further explanation. Access to cleaning cupboard in bathroom.

*WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We provide pillows, duvets, blankets and mattress protectors for all of the beds - you will need to bring your own undersheets, duvet covers and pillow cases. Please also bring your own towels, tea towels, loo roll, washing-up liquid, all-purpose cleaner, kitchen roll and slippers - we would be grateful if shoes & boots could be removed whilst in the cabin. And don't forget your food and drinks!

There is a TV, Video, DVD player and satellite link in the cabin. There's a freeview card in the Sky box so you have a range of channels to view. It has been known to rain in Wales(!) so a selection of books, videos and games have been left in the cabin should you wish to have a quiet day in!

Should you forget anything, the site shop sells all manner of items including the staples - milk, bread, breakfast items, cleaning products, newspapers and beer. Your nearest supermarkets are Co-op in Barmouth or Tesco in Porthmadog which also has a very reasonably priced petrol station (pay at pump only). There is also a Spar in Penrhyndeudraeth (10 mins in the dir. of Porthmadog) which opens 7am - 10pm most days.

We want you to have a really enjoyable holiday however, part of the charm of the site is its peaceful nature - any excessive noise or rowdiness will not be tolerated by the site management and the occupants will be asked to leave immediately without any refund. Please be considerarate of other residents.

*DO I NEED TO CLEAN UP?

Yes please! We provide most of the items we think you may need to clean up during and at the end of your stay (hoover, mop, bucket, broom, cleaning cloths etc). However you will need to pack some washing up liquid and an all-purpose cleaner. For your rubbish complimentary black bags are available from the site shop. All rubbish should be deposited in the refuse buildings on site which are clearly marked.

We ask you to keep the cabin clean in order to keep your holiday costs down. However, if you do not have time to tidy before you leave, you can pay a £30 surcharge for cleaning by prior arrangement with us.

The cabin will be inspected prior to your arrival and after your departure by our on-site keyholders. If any damage is noted or the cabin is left in a worse condition than it was prior to your stay we will require repair/ cleaning costs to be paid. We would like the Cabin to be as pleasant for the next set of guests as it has been for your stay.

*IS HEATING INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Yes. All appliances in the cabin are run on elecricity and the cost of this is included in your nightly rate. The cabin is heated by electric heaters as is the water for the kitchen and bathroom. Background heating is left on during all the cold months. Should you need to clean/dry out any damp clothes following a days walking or cycling, washing/drying can be done at the laundry which is a few minutes walk away. The machines take pound coins and the wash cycle last about 25 minutes as does the dryer.

*CAN I BRING MY PETS?

Sorry no pets are allowed.

*WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORT/ ACCESSIBILITY?

The area is really only accesible for those people with their own transport - though taxis are not expensive in the area, we would not recommend it as a sole means of transport. For those people going out for a drink in the evening, if you wish to go further afield than the pub/ restaurant on site then please take a taxi number from the site office. North Wales police are notoriously vigilant.

Due to the nature of the site it is not suitable for wheelchair users as there are a number of steps to negotiate to get into the cabin.

*CAN I SMOKE IN THE CABIN?

For the comfort of our other guests and the safety of the occupants we operate a no smoking policy. The cabin is a wooden structure and we are not allowed any naked flames in the cabin under the terms of the insurance (this also includes candles - sorry). Smoke alarms are installed in the cabin.

Any fire or damage resulting from matches or cigarettes would not be covered by our insurance policy. In the event of any damage of this nature, financial reparations would be sought from the perpetrator(s) - or in other words - if you burn it, you pay for it.

*WHAT ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA?

Snowdonia is a walker's paradise and for those of you who would like to do some walking during your holiday then the OS Landranger Maps nos 115 (Snowdon) and 124 (Porthmadog and Dolgellau) are the 2 maps you are most likely to need. OS 124 covers the immediate area of the Cabin down to Cadair Idris in the south and 115 covers from Beddgelert (about 25 mins drive from the cabin) to the northern coast including Snowdon - a walker's favourite! There are several books in the cabin detailing walks in the local area both for the serious and recreational walker. There is a copy of the Wales A-Z in the cabin for general use - particularly helpful if you are planning a day trip or just a day's driving about and exploring.

Thousands of people each year enjoy walking in Snowdonia but if you are going to undertake a long walk such as summiting Snowdon and are not a regular walker please do ensure that you have warm clothing (the average summit temperature on Snowdon is 8 degrees C colder than at the base), sturdy footware and supplies and please leave enough time to return to base before nightfall. Remember, when you reach the top, you are only half way and 80% of mountain accidents occur on the descent. Serious incidents are all too common - please don't become a statistic.

*HOW DO I PAY?

Payment for your stay is required in full and in advance. Cash, cheque and postal order are all acceptable (provided that cash is given to us personally - we cannot accept responsibility for money lost by the postal service!) - though we will need time for any cheques to clear prior to you taking up residence.

Credit/ Debit card payments can now be made via PayPal. If you would like to pay by this method, we will be able to issue you an invoice via PayPal which you can settle on-line straight away with your credit/ debit card - it's as simple as that!

*HOW DO I BOOK?

It's simple: just give us a call on 07760 21 76 52 or e-mail us at cabincymru@yahoo.co.uk
